Kissing Emmet

Well looks like my 7 month old son is already a ladies man. We were taking a photo of a sofa full of babies from my moms and babies group, and just 2 min after i set him down beside baby Jaycee, he turns around, grabs her face and plants a big kiss right on the lips/mouth! Emmett had just started giving me kisses in the same sorta way so i guess he thought he'd try it out ..lol

I did some quick measurements today and he is 27 inches long now! still 19 lbs 6oz last Thursday.

Emmett for whatever reason broke out in a fever on Sat and it lasted until yesterday. No other symptoms..just a fever. The last few nights he has been very fussy overnight and I'm not really sure why..teeth maybe?? I still see none. I guess that will be a mystery then.

Swimming!!

I took Emmett swimming for the first time last week, he loved it. The water was warm and there were lots of floaty toys for the babies to play with. I only wish I could have gotten a picture but I didn't think it was safe to bring my camera in to the pool area and Tyler wasn't with us to help. I will try and get a picture soon though..might go get a waterproof disposable camera.

He is doing good and we've gotten him to bed at 8pm every night now for the last two weeks so I hope this new routine we have sticks. At 7 we give him a bath, then a massage if he's not too tired, then a big feeding and then bed...our bed still but a bed regardless.

We are in the middle of switching the office for the baby's room and painting his new room too. We need more room for the office , books, etc and he doesn't need such a big room yet. Once that is done we will try to get him in the crib..again. Pictures to come..we've lost the camera in all of this chaos.

Almost Mobile

Emmett is almost crawling! I can't believe it! Didn't he just learn to sit up? ...well i guess that was a month ago and he's 7 months old today so i guess that would be right on track. Most of his motivation stems from wanting to get closer to Maizie; he's really fascinated by her. Right now he can get up on all fours and rocks..mostly this gets him going back wards though...video below. Also he started this funny growling thing. He only gained an ounce this past week to put him at 18 lb 13 oz but he had gained a lot the week before so I'm not worried. Poor little guy is having lots of constipation problems with his new solids regiment so it's strained pureed prunes everyday for this kid..mmmm mm. yummy. Luckily of all the things we've tried, he actually really likes prunes. We're trying pears tomorrow..i think he'll like that.

10 babies on a sofa and 1 asleep

This past week has been pretty busy. Last Monday we went to a play date with 11 other babies which was lots of fun. As of last Thursday he weighed 18 lbs 12 oz , 26 inches long and 6 1/2 months old. New thing he learned this week was how to shake and bang things, how to spit with his tongue and a mouth full of food, and he is starting to pull his legs under himself getting ready to learn crawling. I can only imagine how much baby proofing we'll have to do when he starts that. I tried mashed peas on him this afternoon and what a face he made! Definitely not a fan of peas..lol. Then again I'm not either....just the right out of the pod kind.

The sitting in on the potty thing still happens every morning but now that he's started solids, he's a bit backed up. It's a bit worrisome to me when it's been 3 days but then he goes and believe me it makes me gag. Hopefully his system will get used to the solids soon.

We went for a drive down to Nanaimo yesterday to check out the Vancouver Island Baby Fair. Amy our friend and midwife was down there with her own little guy and husband Mike doing a presentation on midwifery and so she got us free tickets to get in. Lots of nice baby stuff to see but really expensive too but it was a nice day out.

Next week I am taking Emmett to the swimming pool for the first time with my moms group, can't wait it'll be so fun.
