Beautiful flowers, not sure what they were but a perfect place to take a picture today while out on a walk

Picking flowers

Playing in the dirt that we hauled into our yard to fill a slope. He loves playing in it!

Our other baby
At the strawberry U-pick farm, needless to say he had no problem eating them too.

WOW!

I can't believe that in 3 short weeks on Aug 9th Emmett will be turning two years old! He is getting to be such a big boy and I sure wish we could make it out to see family more often. Life is busy but good!

June 2010

See the rash on the right side of his tummy? After Emmett was put on antibiotics for an ear infection, we discovered that he was allergic to Penicillin. So he can't have anymore of those but luckily they have plenty of other options if we ever need it again.
Maizie our 3 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Covered in food! What's new!?
Getting so big, most times I don't notice until I see a picture taken of him. He'll be two years old Aug 9th and the time couldn't have gone any faster.
Emmett is a busy energetic little guy who loves nothing more than playing outside, trucks, cars planes, and any other number of boy type activities. He will run to the back door as fast as his little legs will carry him like an escaped convict and head straight for his shoe. "Shoe! Shoe! Out side! Outside!" Happy as a little clam.
His sentences are really starting to come together and he tries to express as best he can what he wants but if you can't figure it out he gets pretty frustrated. Temper tantrums as most kids his age go through right now are a daily thing and I've just had to learn clever ways of diverting or diffusing them. Mostly I ignore them until he calms down and then I direct him to another activity and before he knows it he's forgotten all about why he was mad in the first place. Luckily I haven't experienced too many of these in public and I'd like to keep it that way. I know this is just a stage and eventually he'll grow out of it.

Things Emmett Likes:
-puzzles
-cars, trucks, planes etc
-Outside!
-water & swimming
-books
-slides
-Going to see the boats
-going to see the animals at the petting zoo
-running and exploring
-climbing
-all fruit

Things he doesn't like:
-getting his teeth brushed
-being inside for longer than an hour
-vegetables except salad...go figure
- socks
-sunglasses
-most diaper changes

New things he can do:
- sings most of Old McDonald & Row Row your boat
- finishes sentences in his books. Like "There are six red... and then he'll say Kites!
-learning to brush his own teeth..with some help
-knows the names for body parts (mostly face) and his clothes
-goes up and down a small slide on his own
..and I'm sure a lot more that I just can't remember right now lol. Gets hard to remember all that when he is really learning so much everyday.
We've spent lots of time going to parks, and the beach (unfortunately bringing a camera to the beach is a bad idea with a toddler)
Soon i will have some petting zoo pictures and strawberry farm pictures.

More April ! family friends and the beach!

I was a pretty lucky girl this past month; I had a visit from my sister and my closest girfriend from back home all within a few weeks of each other.
My sister came mid April and hadn't been here since Emmett was born. He really enjoyed his Auntie time and we spent lot of time at Air force beach watching the snowbirds air show right over the ocean. It was so nice to see her and I think she had fun too.
Next, Theresa and her little girl Nora who is 2 and a half were up for 5 days. Nora and Emmett got along great and we all had tons of fun out at Coombs checking out the goats on the roof, and the beach playing in the sand. This was the first time she had ever met Emmett. Guess thats the unhappy side effect of living so far apart from everyone. More details when I have a few more min too write but for now, here are some photos.

April Play date with his friends!

Hi Everyone,

The weather is finally getting nice outside (almost feel like I should knock on wood) and we've been out in the yard lots, out on long walks and just taking in the sun as much as we can. Emmett is doing great, there are new words each day and I can no longer keep track of them! He's had his third haircut at home because he freaked out when we tried to take him in to a barber to do it. Cutting hair on a moving target is no easy task but I think I did pretty good considering.
He's 20 months old, weighs 27.8 lbs and is 31.5 inches tall! He is climbing on and off the couch up on to the coffee table and the other week he got his foot up over his crib railing. I was really hoping we could wait a little while longer to get him into a big boy bed but that might have to happen sooner than later. Next up, potty training! Hoping we can have that licked by sometime this summer, we'll see.
We are hitting that so called terrible twos thing a little early and the temper tantrums have begun. We had to exit Home Depot today because Emmett was having a full melt down and was thrashing and screaming at the top of his lungs because we wouldn't let him take something off the shelf he saw. Thank God, I'm not the only parent I know dealing with this new aspect. We were at a big play-date yesterday with a few of his little buddies and a they're all doing the same.
Emmett as of mid March is finally fully feeding himself for the most part with forks and spoons. He's even getting good at getting spoonfuls of cheerios and milk into his mouth without spilling the milk out. I really like this so much better than us feeding him, at least this way we can all eat together in the morning now.
Easter was kind of a bust for this year, i thought he might be a little bit into finding some of the plastic easter eggs i hid around the living room but he found one and quit preferring to only play with that one. Oh well, next year will be more fun.
We have a busy month ahead with my sister Lisa visiting for 5 days on the 12th and then my best girl friend Theresa coming two weeks later for 5 days too! I am so excited, it's not often that people make it out here to see us. Missing family and friends a lot lately.
Also Tyler had some really good news as he was offered a permanent full time job with he City of Courtenay for whom he's been temping since Jan. Tyler really likes working for the city much better than his old job so i'm happy for him above all the other perks that he's somewhere that he enjoys.
